It’s perfect for a Sesame Street themed birthday party, or just for satisfying your own inner cookie monster.

Cookie Monster Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami

For this particular ice cream recipe, we’re creating an ice cream base out of heavy cream, whole milk, and sweetened condensed milk.

In my opinion, this is much easier than a custard-style gelato made with egg yolks.

And I always like to keep things simple!

Then adding some sky blue food coloring gives it the iconic color that matches our beloved character.

And of course, cookies!

We’re using two types, plus chocolate chips, for plenty of sweet goodness. Of course, feel free to customize the mix-ins according to your own preferences.

This is like a cookies and cream ice cream, but kicked up a couple of notches!

How to Make It:

Mix the base. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and food coloring. Mix until well-combined.

Freeze. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, being careful not to exceed the max fill line, and close the lid. Place the pint on a level surface in your freezer for at least 24 hours.

Spin. Remove the container from the freezer and take off the lid. Place the container into the Ninja Creami machine’s outer bowl.

Secure the outer bowl lid and lock the bowl apparatus into the machine.

Press the Ice Cream button and allow it the cycle to complete.

Re-spin if needed. Remove the container from the machine and check to see if the ice cream’s texture is crumbly.

If it is, insert it back into the machine and use the Re-spin button to process it again.

Add cookies. Use a knife or spoon to create a well in the center of the ice cream that’s about 1.5-inches wide and extends all the way to the bottom of the pint container.

Add in 1/4 cup of chopped cookies (half Oreo pieces, half Chips Ahoy pieces), along with the 1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips.

Lock the outer bowl lid into place again and secure the outer bowl into the Ninja Creami ice cream maker.

Press the Mix-in button and allow the pieces to be incorporated.

The pieces will break up into smaller bits during the Mix-in process.

Serve scoops of ice cream garnished with remaining chunks of chopped cookie pieces.

This will give some added crunch to the ice cream and add to its cookie goodness!

Notes and Adaptations:

  • Feel free to change up the types of cookies used as mix-ins, depending on your preferences. You can also omit the mini chocolate chips and add more cookies, if desired.
  • Be sure to use sweetened condensed milk, not evaporated milk.
  • If serving leftovers, you may need to let the container sit out at room temperature for about 5-10 minute to soften slightly before scooping.

FAQs

Do you really have to freeze Ninja creami for 24 hours? ›

Ninja recommends freezing Creami bases for 24 hours, but we've had success with 8 to 12 hour freezing times, too. In our experience, freezing bases for 24 hours or longer usually meant they'd be very chalky on the first run through the Creami and require multiple respins.

Why is my Ninja Creami ice cream not smooth? ›

After your first spin, sometimes you open it and find that your ice cream is crumbly or powdery. Don't stop now. Just add a tablespoon or two of liquid and spin on respin. If your ice cream has been in the freezer a long time or your freezer is extra cold, you may even have to repeat the respin several times.

Do you have to fill ninja creami all the way? ›

Don't fill your pints too high. There's a max fill line, but, like, try to keep it even a little under that.

Why does my Ninja Creami ice cream leave a film in my mouth? ›

Why does my Ninja Creami ice cream taste greasy? If you're finding that your Ninja Creami Ice Cream has a greasy taste, it's likely due to a high butterfat content in your ice cream mix. This can leave an unpleasantly cloying film in your mouth. The solution is to try using less cream and more milk in your recipe.

Why is my Ninja Creami ice cream greasy? ›

If your ice cream tastes greasy and leaves an unpleasantly cloying film in your mouth, then the butterfat content is probably too high. Try using less cream and more milk.

Can you refreeze creami ice cream? ›

Flatten the top of your frozen treat with a spoon or spatula before refreezing. If the treat is soft after re-freezing, just scoop and enjoy it. If it is hard, process it again on the program you used to make it.

Can you put ice cubes in the Ninja Creami? ›

It's also important to note that this is not a blender. You can't throw some ice cubes or frozen fruit into the machine to make a smoothie. Everything you make with the Ninja Creami Deluxe must be prefrozen solid in the provided pint container.

Why is my Ninja Creami ice cream too fatty? ›

Why is there a greasy feel to my Ninja Creami ice cream? The heavy whipping cream has a tendency to turn greasy or almost butterlike when there is too much added or it is over-mixed. To prevent this from happening, use less heavy whipping cream or substitute it with half and half or milk.

Is Ninja Creami discontinued? ›

The Ninja Creami Breeze is discontinued.

Can you crush ice in Ninja Creami? ›

You don't use this machine for crushing ice or blending loose ingredients. Rather, with Ninja's “creamify” technology, you churn frozen, liquid-based mixtures, typically made of cream or milk, into silky-smooth treats.

Why is my Ninja Creami ice cream powdery? ›

A powdery Ninja Creami is common after the first spin when making light or high protein Ninja Creami ice creams. Ninja Creami protein ice cream and light ice creams typically need 1 or 2 Re-Spin cycles. If it's really powdery, try adding a tablespoon of protein shake, milk, or cream before you Re-Spin.

Do you have to pre freeze ice cream maker? ›

However, you do have to remember to pre-freeze the canister (in our experience, a solid 24 hours is often necessary) and find the space in your freezer for that. We recommend shaking the canister before using it. If you hear the coolant sloshing around at all, it's not ready to make ice cream.

Can you use already frozen fruit in the Ninja Creami? ›

Ninja CREAMi Ice Cream Maker

We love our Creami. To use your frozen fruit, follow your instructions from the recipes that came with your Creami. If you want to make fruit ice cream thaw your fruit, place in a food processor and mix it with the vanilla ice cream recipe.

Can Ninja Creami ice cream be refrozen? ›

Yes, you can refreeze Ninja Creami ice cream. Once you have churned your mixture into a delicious, creamy texture, you may have some left over.

How long to let Ninja creami thaw? ›

To melt the ice so that it doesn't affect the texture of the ice cream, microwave the pint for 10 seconds, run the pint under warm water, or thaw the pint for 10 minutes before processing.
