Predicting the Top 10 Highest-Rated Teams in EA Sports College Football 25

10) Penn State Nittany Lions

Entering Year 11, head coach James Franklin brought in two new coordinators to help the Nittany Lions get over the hump.

With QB Drew Allar, RBs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, and Ohio State transfer WR Julian Fleming leading the offense and EDGEs Abdul Carter, Dani Dennis-Sutton, LB Kevin King, and S Kevin Winston Jr. manning the defense, Penn State will be in the thick of the Big Ten race.

9) Missouri Tigers

Fresh off an 11-2 campaign and a Cotton Bowl win, Eli Drinkwitz’s Tigers are riding dangerous momentum into the 2024 season. Brady Cook and his top WRs, including the all-world Luther Burden III, return with RB transfers Marcus Carroll and Nate Noel joining the backfield.

The offensive line and defensive secondary were hit hard by the NFL Draft and graduations, but Missouri has the talent to compete in the SEC once again.

8) Notre Dame Fighting Irish

LSU OC Mike Denbrock left the Tigers to call the plays in South Bend, and with Duke QB Riley Leonard under center and transfer WRs Kris Mitchell and Beaux Collins beefing up the WR corps, the Fighting Irish could put up more points than usual in 2024.

Pair that offense with an elitedefense, home to names such as DT Howard Cross III, LB Jack Kiser, CB Benjamin Morrison, and S Xavier Watts, and you have the makings of a 90+ rated roster.

7) Ole Miss Rebels

Quinshon Judkins’ departure certainly stings, but Lane Kiffin and Co. were busy in the transfer portal, bolstering the offensive line and the entire defense.

EDGE Princely Umanmielen and DT Walter Nolen are potential future first-rounders anchoring the defensive side of the ball, while a much improved Jaxson Dart gets to throw to Tre Harris and Juice Wells in Kiffin’s high-octane scheme.

6) Michigan Wolverines

There are major holes on Michigan’s depth chart following their national championship victory, but Sherrone Moore has done an admirable job filling in for Jim Harbaugh. Wink Martindale’s defense has all-conference players at every level, namely DTs Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, LB Jaishawn Barham, CB Will Johnson, and S Makari Paige.

Offensively, OC Kirk Campbell has his work cut out for him outside of RB Donovan Edwards and TE Colston Loveland. QB Alex Orji has all the tools to lead the unit to challenge for a spot in the expanded CFP, but we have to see it first.

5) Alabama Crimson Tide

Although the Crimson Tide are entering the post-Nick Saban era, they aren’t doing so without key returning starters in QB Jalen Milroe, Gs Tyler Booker and Jaeden Roberts, DTs Tim Keenan III and Tim Smith, LB Deontae Lawson and DB Malachi Moore. Plus, they aren’t replacing Saban with just anyone — Kalen DeBoer comes to Tuscaloosa with a national title bid in tow.

4) Texas Longhorns

Texas isback. Steve Sarkisian led his team to a CFP appearance last year and looks to do so again as part of the SEC in 2024.

Quinn Ewers returns as one of the best QBs in the country, and he’ll have WRs Isaiah Bond, Silas Bolden, and Matthew Golden plus TE Amari Niblack to throw to. That’s not even mentioning prospective top-10 pick Kelvin Banks Jr. will protect his blindside once again.

3) Oregon Ducks

An early favorite to win the conference title in their inaugural season in the Big Ten, the Ducks have one of college football’s most lethal offenses.

Veteran QB Dillon Gabriel takes the reins from Bo Nix, will hand the ball off to the extremely explosive Jordan James, has 1,000-yard WR Tez Johnson and Texas A&M transfer Evan Stewart to target, and one of the nation’s best lines protecting him. And you know Dan Lanning will have the defense playing complementary football.

2) Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes lost a lot of talent from the 2023 season, but they more than made up for it with the additions of RB Quinshon Judkins and S Caleb Downs. Chip Kelly brings his offensive knowledge to Columbus and has every tool imaginable available to him.

It’s a prove-it year for Ryan Day, but with Michigan undergoing major turnover, Ohio State should get back on top of the conference.

1) Georgia Bulldogs

There is a reason Georgia is the favorite to win their third national title in four seasons. Carson Beck runs the offensive onslaught like Napoleon Bonaparte and will share the backfield with Florida transfer Trevor Etienne.
